RE-COIN INSTALLATION VIDÉO 2021
Dans un temps où individualisme et collectivité ne cesse de se confronter, cette phrase restée dans un coin de ma mémoire depuis plus de 30ans «Come back des Songes-Flash Back des Mondes» a resurgi. Elle m’a été confiée par G. avant qu’il ne mette fin à ses jours surprenant son entourage car, jamais il n’était apparu aussi heureux. Il me l’avait griffonné sur un petit bout de papier je ne sais plus dans quel ordre mais peu importe puisqu’elle est miroir.

It was entrusted to me by G. before he put an end to his life surprising those around him because he had never appeared so happy. He had scribbled it for me on a little piece of paper I don't know in what order but it doesn't matter since it has a mirror effect.
As a young student, I attended a course in psychiatry in the early 1980s where the practitioner began his course thus: "If the majority of people were schizophrenic, the world would be different". It was not without reminding me not only of the writings of Philip K. Dick but also of the work of Alighiero e Boetti who by the addition of the conjunction "e" between his first and last name is duplicated and whose works , in their sheer complexity never cease to question the order of things and the world.
My aunt and G. were diagnosed as suffering from schizophrenia, both placed on the margins of society and therefore outside its limits and annihilate their faculty of communication. Both, they are and remain fundamentally in who I am and what I do. From their exclusion (incapacity) and love, they transmitted to me this ability to make visible their invisibility, to assert and recognize what they have not had, by virtue of their marginalized status, the possibility of expressing.
In the video installation "Re-Coin", the images from two videos of the same format and duration but different in their content are projected in the corner of a room, they intersect and respond to each other and put in parallel form. repeated flashes of their life paths and mine associated with their particular historical context. Quick bridles, they are taken from film or personal archives dating approximately from the period between the two world wars to the present day.
Brief shots of strikes, bombings, hospitals, of Logo tree design published in 1921 about eugenics concept, of the 2001 "Exit Ferris Wheel" happening and exhibition in Chicago, photos black and white family, from Luis Bunuel's “Andalusian Dog”, they are incessant back and forth between individual and collective history, they act as electro-shocks and are as many representations of events that have determined and determined their fates and mine.
In its structure, "Re-coin" is an installation composed of either:1) two synchronized and crossed loop projections of “Re-Coin 1” and “Re-Coin2” HD 1080i videos in 16/9 format of 1 minute 37 seconds each, in the corner of a room whose angle can be 140 to 90 degrees, that is:2) of a single loop projection of the video "Re-corner 1 and 2" divided into two equal parts in its middle by what constitutes the edge of the corner of the room (thanks to a video projector with lens adjustable).
The projections are made on the walls if they are neutral in color or, in the opposite case, on screen fabrics previously installed.
In both arrangements, during the projection, a resonance system is established between the images, creating this impression of a mirror. Thus places and times come to merge during the four inter-titles structuring the video: "Come Back Des Mondes-Flash Back des Songes", "Come Back des Songes-Flash Back des Mondes", "Come Back Des Songes-Flash Back of the Worlds "," Come Back of the Worlds-Flash Back of the Dreams ".
The soundtracks, identical, are repeated at each inter-title: the course of its utterance is punctuated by the mechanical sound of the departure of a slide device launching a slide show then follows a hubbub of noises from one or more a group of voices, confused because too compressed.
In this installation, the side-facing angle represents the opening to the outside: that of all the worlds, and the side-facing angle takes the direction of the intimate, the inside of oneself, of the unconscious: that of all dreams.
The meaning of "Re-Coin" is found above all in its experimentation: it is to be lived. Its speed, its form, the statement of interchangeable inter-titles disrupting the order of words exclude any analysis, methodology, rationalization. As its corner position also indicates a turn like an eternal cycle. The images in the form of flashes and whose presentation gives this symmetrical aspect which can be likened to the tasks of a "Rorschach test" mix personal and collective unconscious, confront repression and revolt and are received brutally as so many resurgence of personal and societal traumatic memories. . They are part of the “self” (das Es), this impulse of life which disturbs but transforms and moves us.
